The Coming New Industrial State: Reloaded

Sergey BodrunovS.Y. Witte Institute for New Industrial Development (INID) (St. Petersburg), 2022ENRUZH

Abstract

The monograph is the product of many years of author's thinkings and the result of his research and analytical work at the S.Y. Witte Institute for New Industrial Development, which he heads. The author believes that the process of deindustrialization that has captured modern Russia is disastrous, and is convinced that without relying on the industrial core, the modern economy is not able to develop normally and satisfy the ever-increasing wants of people. At the same time, the method of production, according to the author, has a decisive influence on both the type of economy and the social structure as a whole, namely the industrial mode of production, which is currently undergoing a fundamental qualitative renewal, will result in significant changes in the socio-economic system of the future, which was named by the author as the New Industrial Society of the Second Generation, NIS.2. New technology challenges only strengthen this conviction and make us think about the re-industrialization of Russia on the most advanced technological basis, driven by the development of knowledge-intensive material production first of all, relying on the integration of production, science and education, which form the basis of this social structure. The monograph is devoted to the prerequisites and ways to achieve this goal.
