Artificial Intelligence as an Infrastructure of Noo-Selection of Knowledge under Conditions of Digital Redundancy

Abstract

The exponential dynamics of digital data and the automation of notation production create a developmental paradox where data abundance is combined with a weakening ability to distinguish between knowledge and digital “noise”. This effect is described through the category of data inflation which captures functional devaluation of a unit of knowledge with an uncontrolled expansion of cognitive supply. Data flows lose their orienting function, while attention, trust, and the ability to comprehend become scarce resources in society. In such a configuration, artificial intelligence (AI) is considered as an infrastructure for noo-selection of knowledge, functioning at the boundary of meaning-making and institutional validation of cognitive processes. The function is interpreted as a mediator between arrays of digital information and the limited ability of society to meaningfully appropriate them. In the research perspective, priority is given not to the generative capabilities of AI, but to its role in reducing cognitive entropy and maintaining the differences between the levels of informational and cognitive organization. Data inflation is interpreted as an indicator of the unfinished transition from a quantitatively oriented knowledge economy to a qualitatively oriented model of reproduction, where technological acceleration outpaces institutional ordering. Noo-selection acts as a mechanism for organizing social intelligence prioritizing “real” knowledge with social significance, reproducibility, and institutional legitimation. It is shown that the AI integration into educational, scientific and managerial environments can transform digital redundancy from a source of cognitive crisis into a resource for the noonomic method of socio-economic reproduction, where the quality of knowledge selection acts as a system-forming parameter of social evolution.
